Champfleurie
House |
| Champfleurie
House is a ’B’ listed Scottish Baronial Mansion situated
14 miles north west of Edinburgh and 2 miles from Linlithgow
Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots and Queen
of France, who is said to have given it it’s name. Champfleurie
(‘Flowering Fields’) has many historic connections,
amongst which, it was once the home of Mary’s three ladies
in waiting. |
Bonnie
Prince Charlie is said to have spent the night here on
his triumphant progress to Edinburgh in 1745. The palace
horses were also stabled here.

The present house was rebuilt in 1851 by Admiral |
Robert
Hawthorn Johnston Stewart
from Wigtownshire and was occupied for most of
this century by Sir Francis and Lady Tudsbery,
whose son Robin was an equerry to the late Queen
Mother and a popular visitor with the two royal
princesses. |
|
Champfleurie
is now fully restored and has been the home of RGK since
1987.
