SEALING & CLEANING PROGRAMME FOR LINO/VINYL/TERRAZZO/MARBLE/WOODEN FLOORS,ETC.

1. ASSESS THE CONDITION OF THE FLOOR.

First of all determine the existence or condition of any floor seal (not varnish). If the floor is in good condition and has an adequate coating of floor dressing then proceed to the Maintenance Section of this programme. If the floor is dirty and dry-looking then start at the Preparation Section.

2. PREPARATION.

(a). Strip old polish and dirt using a standard or medium speed rotary machine with a black pad, or a roller brush machine with hard brushes and a solution of Selate floor stripper. Follow immediately behind with a wet vac to lift the resultant slurry.

(b). IMPORTANT - Rinse the floor thoroughly with a solution of clean warm water and white vinegar (about 1 fluid ounce of white vinegar to 5 litres water) - to neutralise stripper. Use generous amounts of vinegar and water solution (floodmop) and lift slurry with a wet vac. THIS MUST BE DONE THOROUGHLY, OTHERWISE STRIPPER RESIDUE WILL CONTAMINATE NEW FLOOR DRESSING, MAKING IT GO WHITE AND MILKY AND REQUIRE IT'S REMOVAL.

(c).Repeat this part of operation using clean warm water only.

3. SEALING

(a). When floor is absolutely dry apply a coating of Ultrashine floor dressing (do not dilute), evenly, with a new mop head or mop applicator and leave to dry, apply a second coat if possible, and a third if the area is a high traffic area. Do not try to buff the floor at this stage, wait till floor next requires cleaning (refer to next section on maintenance).

4. MAINTENANCE

(a). Maintain the floor on a regular basis by sweeping, preferably with a sweeper mop, then damp mop with a solution of Sprayshine floor maintainer and when completely dry, buff with a medium or high speed (not ultra high speed) rotary machine and a red, tan or white pad depending on the degree of shine required.
